2025 comes to a close

We're nearing the end of the season here in Rote, although they seem to stretch longer every year. It used to be quietening down in October, whereas now we are welcoming guests up until the end of November. But things are definitely slowing down...many businesses are shutting up shop and lots of friends are heading back to their other homes in various parts of the world. I always wonder if the local Rotinese look forward to this time of the year when they get their home back again without their new neighbours around.

The weather has definitely started to turn as well, with rain coming most days now and thunder often rumbling away in the background. There has been surf though, and light winds make it easier for boat trips, so it can still be a nice time to visit.

2025 has been an amazing year for us as a family here on Rote. We've genuinley loved it. We've welcomed so many lovely guests from all over the globe and had great feedback from them all. Many are returning next year which makes my heart very happy. We don't take or post photos of guests, as one of our priorities is to respect your privacy. We want you to feel at home, and treat the place as your own for the time you're staying with us. So I don't have a camera reel of happy guests to show you...but I can show you the adventures that our family have been enjoying throughout the year. From birthdays to beach fires, head injuries to new boards, paddle boarding, rock jumping, fishing, waterfall showers, camping and cat love, I think the photos below give a fairly good overview of our season this year.

Looking forward to next year we're super excited to be starting a little building project that will give us two more rental units. These will be one-bedroom, self-catering appartments, with a spacious bedroom and en-suite upstairs and a kitchenette, living area and seperate toilet downstairs, opening on to a terrace and shared pool. Once completed, they will offer a slightly cheaper alternative for guests who are happy to make their own breakfasts and share a pool with the other apartment occupants. There will also be the option for larger groups to take both apartments and the lodge and have exclusive use of the whole space. With this option you can still have breakfasts and other meals prepared for you by the team using the kitchen and dining area at the lodge.

We'd love to hear from you if you fancy being part of 2026's story. Drop us a line using the contact form here: Contact & Availability
